My Bracket

Posted: March 20, 2013 in The Blog

I’ll have some marathon training updates in the near future but until then, it’s everybody’s favorite at-work time waster: March Madness.  March Madness isn’t quite the same without Kentucky — love ’em or hate ’em, that fact is hard to argue — but I still had to do at least one bracket for ol’ time’s sake.  I usually do at least two brackets and always  have one where Kentucky wins it all, except the years where I legitimately think they’ll win it all, like last year, and I only have one bracket……or years they make the *cough cough* NIT *cough cough*, like this year and 2008, and I have a stack full of brackets (leave your Kentucky hate in the comments below, I’m tired of it tarnishing my Facebook wall or clogging up my text message inbox).

I must admit, some picks are wishful thinking, some are fliers, and some reflect my outright bias — I’m sure you can figure those out, feel free to judge me accordingly — but in the interest of full transparency when I inevitably go 63 for 63, I present to you my bracket (post bracket hate in the comments below, too):

Now you too can follow along as more and more picks are proven to be wrong and I get closer and closer to burning my bracket before the first weekend is out.  It’s inevitable that I’ll threaten to do this no less than 3 times by Sunday but with the onslaught of virtual bracket pools and the gradual disappearance of ol’ fashioned paper brackets, my threats no longer have the same effect.  March Madness has always been my favorite time of the year and I’ll always remember my first bracket — it’s like your first born, you just don’t forget.  Although I won’t get to watch every game, I’ll be looking forward to getting off work and rushing home just to see how my picks are doing.  It’s good to have the tournament back……even if Kentucky got snubbed (so they probably didn’t get snubbed considering they lost to Bob Morris University but that fact will not prohibit me from deeming our absence as a complete injustice).

Enjoy the games everybody!

UPDATE: If you create a bracket on Yahoo! and enable the Friends Leaderboard feature you can see, in real-time, how badly your bracket beats mine.
